Kindness at PLAY

Magical Bridge is spreading kindness far beyond the borders of their innovative and inclusive playgrounds. Above, a BBAB table and chairs decorated by Palo Alto High School (PALY) students will be used to create a Kindness Corner on the campus.

Spearheaded by Emma Villareal, daughter of Magical Bridge founder Olenka Villareal, kids from the Black Student Union and Queer-Straight Alliance came together to purchase and paint the pre-carved, wooden furniture on Club Spirit Day.

As a graduating senior, Emma wanted to leave a Kindness Corner at PALY as a parting gift with lasting benefits for the entire school. The welcoming message on the table reads: Kindness is Magical ~ Inclusivity, Friendly, Fun Beautiful, Fantastic, Necessary, Universal, Accepting,  Spectacular.

Despite her young age, this isn’t Emma’s first go-round at fundraising and spreading kindness. Having seen her mother’s dedication to her quest to create the first Magical Bridge Playground, Emma began working towards this same goal in elementary school, hosting bake sales and coin drives to raise money for the play space that would eventually become the nation’s most inclusive.

The next generation is leading the way on kindness and inclusivity, and we could not be more proud to play a role in their efforts. Above, Naima Castaneda Issac, VP of Magical Bridge Club, and Emma pose with Barbara and the finished pieces of art. Thanks, PALY!
