About our tung-oil stains:
We were a major client of Woodburst and for many years purchased Woodburst stains made to our specifications. For example, we used a higher quantity of Artist pigment in our colors than the Woodburst stains sold to the general public. This makes our colors richer and more saturated than the colors sold on the Woodburst website.
Woodburst is no longer in business. We have received many inquiries asking where to buy these wonderful stains. We have our colors available for sale, which can be seen on our website at http://www.barbarabutler.com/color_samples.php.
However, if you are looking to match the Woodburst colors, then our colors will not work for you. If matching is not a problem, then we can sell you any of our colors in the quantities listed below. Please note that prices do not include shipping and handling. We accept payment via credit card over the phone.
Color Prices:
$15 for 4 oz / $25 for 8 oz / $40 for 16 oz / $65 for 32 oz / $110 for 64 oz / $190 for 128 oz
Our play professionals will be happy to answer questions or help you select from our wide variety of forts, playhouses, sizes, colors, and accessories.
Barbara specializes in custom, site specific, play structures designed for your personal landscape. As Barbara says "The tougher the terrain the better."
How does the Custom Design process work?
We'll set up a time for Barbara to meet with you at the site. The design process generally requires a few meetings. The end results are: detailed drawings of your custom play structure, a cost projection for building it, and a timetable of construction.
At the first meeting, you and Barbara will review her portfolio of previous projects. You will discuss site locations for the play area and how the different sites will work with your home. Also, you willl brainstorm about different design motifs, such as a climbing castle, pirate ship, a lookout fort, a mad scientist's chamber, or a wild west town.
At the next meeting, Barbara will present one to two design options with drawings and an estimate of the cost for each option. You will start talking about the color palette, which Barbara will subsequently develop with your input. Then, Barbara will head back to the drawing board with a clear sense of direction for the project.
Once the final design has been agreed upon, Barbara will prepare the final drawings. She will have a cost projection for the project based on the final plans and a final timetable for construction and payments. You and Barbara sign a construction contract and we can begin work.
The Design Process is a fun, creative and collaborative experience. Your entire family will love being involved from beginning to end in creating an imaginative outdoor space everyone will enjoy for years to come!
If you are ready to start the design process.
Let us know and we will send you a design contract to sign and return with a $2,400 retainer. Receipt of the design contract starts the clock and holds your place in line!
About the retainer.
Barbara's hours are billed at $95 per hour for design and $55 per hour for travel. If at the initial meeting you decide not to proceed further, we will refund the entire retainer, excluding travel charges outside of the Bay area. Generally, the design process is completed within 20 to 30 hours.
Please call or email for more information. We look forward to hearing from you.
