Magical Bridge Sunnyvale

It is always a joy to see a new Magical Bridge Playground come to fruition, and Sunnyvale was no exception! Each of these uniquely accessible playgrounds offers a range of play options, including swings, slides, sensory zone, innovation, and of course our two-story playhouse and stage at the center. Here, you can see the shaded and rustic seating surrounding the stage.

To create a fully accessible two-story structure, an extensive series of ramps leads to the top floor. The walkway not only ushers visitors up into the wonders of the second story, but also offers some adventures and views along the way.

This lookout tower offers a perch to observe the goings-on below or a pause before braving the hanging bridge.

The color scheme, architectural shapes, and pyramid gable roof evoke a royal castle with room for all. Both the upper and lower deck railings are lined with cut-outs to keep a watch on threats to the kingdom. The bottom floor doubles as a backstage area and is a handy way to reach the stage.

Each element of our structure is designed to accommodate vigorous play and a continuous stream of visitors, as seen above.

The ramp features of the playhouse are not only easy to use for people with limited mobility, but are also a perfect fit for short toddler legs. Just goes to show that when you design for true inclusion, it brings everyone together and benefits the whole community.

Another BBAB component you’ll find in each of these unique playgrounds is Ava’s Bridge, named for Magical Bridge founder Olenka Villarreal’s daughter who inspired the concept of a truly inclusive play space. Here, it connects two parts of the playground with a bridge that is beautiful, smooth, and inviting. Next time, we’ll tour the interior of Magical Bridge Sunnyvale so stay tuned for some adorable pics!
